How does it work?
Drawing on the ‘classical’ Pilates method originally developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century, the Body Control Pilates approach breaks down the classical exercises into building blocks that support awareness of how the whole body moves together.
The relationship between breath, alignment, and muscular stability is key to this method, making it a fundamentally mindful and holistic approach to movement. Core stability is developed to support the body to move with control and ease. By working on strength alongside joint mobility, the body can mobilise safely and flexibly, encouraging full movement potential from the inside out.
What can it help with?
The medically approved Body Control approach can be a highly effective, safe, and accessible way to alleviate pain, develop mobility, build strength, and find a deeper connection between body and mind. In turn, this can increase confidence and reduce anxiety by supporting greater bodily control and connection. Some areas that this method is especially helpful for are:
Pregnancy and Postnatal rehabilitation
Lower back pain
Recovery from injury
Improving posture
Developing core strength and stability
